Will taking Virtual School affect my chances of medical school?

I am currently taking virtual school for my freshman year. I want to be a dermatologist or cosmetic surgeon when I’m older. I have wealthy grandparents that will most likely support me if I do medical school, and have always wanted to be a doctor. Would it be wise if I took honors classes or AP classes to improve my chances? Is a virtual school diploma different from any high school diploma?

I think you are getting a little ahead of yourself. the question you should really be asking is “will virtual school affect my chances of getting into a good college?” I know when I applied to medical school, no one asked for my high school transcripts, but they care A LOT about college grades.

As far as honors/AP classes, there are pluses and minuses to them. 1) they will prepare you better for college classes. But 2) they are harder, and getting a lower grade in them may hurt your chances of getting into a high-level university. You just have to weigh your options.

Medical schools don’t care what you did in high school. It’s all about how you performed in college. Once you’re able to get into an accredited college, you’ll be fine.
